COURSE DESCRIPTION
Contrary to beliefs of many higher education administrators, the need for state authorization did not go away when the federal government vacated its rules to regulate distance education in 2010. State authorization is regulated at the state level and those rules have been in place for many years. If an institution of any type – public, non-profit, for-profit, degree-granting, non-degree granting, etc. – does certain activities in a state other than where it is physically located, it may need “authorization” from that state to do those activities.
This course is for those who have just begun, or have not yet begun, to get into compliance with the myriad of state authorization regulations. This course will cover where to start, how to gain the necessary information, and which activities trigger the need for authorization. This course will also focus on ways to document out-of-state activities and develop a strategic plan for prioritizing and obtaining the necessary authorizations.
